Twice a semester, we visit the elderly residents of Morville House, located just a few blocks away from Northeastern. (See our calendar for dates). Morville House is home to a diverse group of people who are eager to share stories about their lives and to hear about what is going on in the lives of young people today.

A student talks with two Morville House residents at the Fall 2024 party.

In the winter, we volunteer at the Harvard Square Homeless Shelter, preparing and serving dinner to the guests there and enjoying their company for the evening.

Open Table participates in social justice initiatives and advocacy work throughout the year. Recent initiatives have included support of immigrants and refugees through card-making and letter-writing, through Global Refuge (formerly known as Lutheran and Immigration Refugee Service), and sending one or two students representatives to Ecumenical Advocacy Days for Global Peace with Justice in Washington, DC.

Lutheran-Episcopal Campus Ministry at NU has participated in mission and service trips since 2006, often as part of trips sponsored by the Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts. We’ve traveled to Puerto Rico, Kenya, and Israel and Palestine.
